A native of Chickasaw County, he was a retired surveyor for TruckLine Gas Co. and was a member of Houston First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Maxine Kirby of Houston; one son, James T. Kirby of Winston Salem, NC; one daughter, Stephanie Estes of Houston; one sister, Mary Lowe Williams of Mountain View, AR and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby Pearson, Ronald Pumphrey, Richard Sisk, and Nathan Naron. Southern Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
