Vera C. Andre, 91, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 15, 1995, in Northport, Ala., after a brief illness. Graveside services: 2:30 p.m. today, Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at Turner Chapel East. Survivors include her husband, Leonard; and a daughter, Mary Andre Varner of Northport, Ala. She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Davis.

The daughter of James and Blanche Shrope Dyson, Vera was born Jan. 17, 1904, in Lowden. She married Leonard W. Andre on Nov. 1, 1930. A schoolteacher, Vera taught fourth grade in Cedar Rapids Public Schools until her retirement in 1969. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
