PROCTOR ? Leola M. Flood, 82, of High Street and formerly of Montpelier, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Born in Fairfax on March 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Helen (Archambault) Flanders.

She attended schools in Fairfax. After her schooling Leola moved to Cambridge, Mass., where she was employed at a manufacturing plant.

On July 15, 1949, she married Albert G. Flood in Farmington, Conn. The couple then made their home in Fletcher. In 1951, they moved to the Barre area for a short time before moving to Montpelier where they resided for 26 years. In 1989, they moved to East Barre where they made their home. Mr. Flood passed away on Dec. 26, 1996.

Leola attended the Washington Baptist Church in Washington. She enjoyed collecting ruby glass, antique dolls, crocheting and doing research on the family tree. Leola provided extra special care to her son Steve for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cushing and her husband, John of Lebanon, Tenn., and Patricia Howard and her husband, John of Proctor; four sons, Danny Flood and his wife, Rose of Hardwick, Kenneth Flood and his wife, Diane of Montpelier, Richard Flood and Darryl Flood, both of Northfield; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Leola is also survived by two brothers, Ernest Flanders of Fairfax and Roy Flanders of Northfield, two sisters, Alberta Burker of Fort Arthur, Texas and Lenna Flanders of Montpelier. Besides her husband she was predeceased by one son, Steve Flood and one sister, Lena Flanders.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre. Pastor James Herod of the Washington Baptist Church will officiate.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Entombment will be in the Elmwood Vault in Barre. A later spring burial will be in the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the March of Dimes, 105 Main Street, Barre, Vt. 05641.
