Leon Wesley Higgins, 82, of Aztec died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in Aztec. He was born April 4, 1925, in Blanchard, Okla.

Leon moved to the state in 1943. He married Viola in 1954 in Las Cruces. Leon moved to San Juan County in 2003. He was employed previously as an auto mechanic for 45 years. He served in the Army.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Higgins, in 2006; son Ricky Higgins in 1999; and three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors are sons, James White and wife, Mary, of Santa Fe; daughter, Teena Higgins of Aztec; sister, Debra Williams of Lindsay, Okla.; brother, Clodas Higgins of Portales; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, conducted by Joe Morris and Rod Conover. Burial will follow at Mission Gardens of Memories in Clovis.

Arrangements are with Alternative Choice, 804 N. Dustin Ave., Farmington; (505) 325-9611.
