Services Held Friday for Mrs. Mathias. Bainville Woman, 84, Dies at Poplar Hospital After Lingering Illness
Funeral services were conducted Friday for Mrs. Ellen Marie Mathias, wife of John Mathias of Bainville, from the First Lutheran Church of that city, the Rev. Carlson officiating.
Mrs. Mathias, 84, died Sept. 28 at Dale Hospital in Poplar, after an illness of two months. She had been a resident of Bainville since 1916.
Born Ellen Marie Rosaaen at Blackhammer, Minn., June 13, 1864, she grew to young womanhood there and was married at Spring Grove to John Mathias on Feb. 7, 1885. In 1898 the couple moved to Becker county, Minn., and in 1916 to Bainville.
Mrs. Mathias is survived by her husband; and five daughters, Mrs. Mathilda Killingstad, Detroit Lakes, Mrs. Manda Blom, Shoreham, Mrs. Bertha Jones and Mrs. Lille McCanna, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons, Clifford of Bainville and William C. of Seattle; one brother, Martin T. Rossaaen, of Caldedonia, Minn.; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
