Mary Jo was the daughter of Esther and Christen Holst. She was the eldest of four siblings. She attended grammar schoolsin Forest Park and one year at Proviso East High School. The family moved to Elmhurst in 1949. She graduated from York High School. She was a secretary until she married Jerome Benisek on August 10, 1959. She had two sons James,(Alice) and Michael (Nuela). She had three grandchildren Steven, Andrew and Betsy that were the light of her life. Later in her life she resumed working as a secretary. Her husband passed away in 2017 from cancer. Mary had a sister, Judith who died in infancy, three brothers, Buddy (deceased), Clifford (Susan) and David (Diane). She had two nieces, Jessica and Jamie Lee. She had a nephew Jeremy. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother sister and aunt. She was a strong woman and was not afraid to speak her mind. She also had a beautiful singing voice. Mary was cremated and her remains were scattered.
