Buddy Joe O'Keefe, 61, passed away on June 06, 1990, at his home in Camden. Services will be held at the Proctor Funeral Home Chapel, Camden, Arkanas. Buddy was born on March 9, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Orville O'Keefe and Lessie Franks-O'Keefe. He was a graduate of Rosston High School in Rosston, Arkansas. Mr. O'Keefe was a Lieutenant Officer for the Camden Police Department, A Deputy Sheriff for Ouachita County and a member of the Arkansas Auxiliary Police. Prior to his service in Camden he also served as a Police Officer for the City of Shreveport, Louisana. Afterward leaving the Camden Police Department, he owned and operated the Arkansas Cafe in Camden. During his retirement he worked for South Arkansas Vending Company also in Camden. He loved to repair engine parts and machines and often spent time doing that with his father, Orville. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents: Father, Orville O'Keefe, and mother, Lessie May-Franks-O'Keefe, and his daughter, Debra Marie O'Keefe, all of Camden. He is survived by his fomer wife, Marie Betts-O'Keefe-Harris, his brother, Charles R. O'Keefe, and wife, June, of Shreveport, LA. His sons, Ronnie J. O'Keefe, and wife, Barbara, of Arkadelphia, AR, and Gary M. O'Keefe of Los Angeles, CA. Also survived are granddaughter, Jenifer O'Keefe, and grandson, Todd O'Keefe, of Arkadelphia, AR, and two nephews, Charles R. O'Keefe, Jr., and Larry J O'Keefe, both of Shreveport, LA. Many extended family and friends in the South Arkansas area conclude the list. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyd fishing in the many lakes of Arkansas, Louisana, Texas and Mississippi. He also enjoyed hunting wild game across the Woodlands of South Arkansas usually sharing his catch or kill with friends. He always had a smile and was ready to share a story, especially about his fishing and hunting. Services will be at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel, and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetary in Camden. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of all services.
