Crea Blanche Heatherly Balevre Dyer was born July 12, 1928, in LaFollette, Tennessee, to Dewey Hobart Heatherly and Flora Mae Shoun Heatherly, who preceded her in death. She passed away on September 27, 2023, at Brooks Bartram Assisted Living Facility, where she resided with her late husband, Charles Patrick "Pat" Dyer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys, and brother, Lynn Heatherly. Her former husband, friend, and father of her children, Albert Balevre, preceded her in death.
Crea is survived by her son, Park Shoun Balevre (& wife Sonia); daughter, Renee Heatherly Balevre Emmitt (& husband Drew); stepdaughters, Suzanne Terrell and Christine Brandon (& husband Jim). Her grandchildren include Shoun (who preceded her in death), Kimberly, Brandon, and Ryan (& wife Bianca) Balevre; Elijah and Willa Emmitt; and step-grandchildren Trevor Terrell and Amanda Stafford (& husband Jesse). She has many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a wonderful extended family, including her many friends at Brooks Bartram Assisted Living Facility.
Crea was a cherished teacher. She taught accounting, dictation, and other business courses at Greeneville College of Business in Greenville, Tennessee, before moving to Clarksville, Tennessee, where she taught English to middle and high school students. She often recalled those years and her students warmly.
She was an enthusiastic member of Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee, before moving to Jacksonville, Florida. During her last year, she often sang hymns with her daughter, Renee, in person or over the phone. After her graduation from Lincoln Memorial University, she had planned to attend the Juilliard School of Music in New York to major in voice, concentrating on opera, but decided to raise a family instead. However, she continued to sing in the church choir and teach her children music.
Crea and Pat lived for many years in the Mandarin community of Jacksonville and had many friends, including mother's best friends, Patsy and Gayle. She and Pat had many adventures in those years, traveling and cruising the seas. They were Diamond Plus cruise members on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, where they made many more friendships and cruising partners.
Family, friends, and all those she touched will miss her greatly.
