Callie Pickering, 101 years, 7 months and 21 days old, Diamond died at 2:10 pm, Friday afternoon in Freeman Hospit al in Joplin, where she had been a patient a short time.
Born November 14, 1861, in Chrsitian County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William K. Berry, a pioneer of the area. her father, a Union Soldier, served in the Civil War.
She was the widow of the late C.L. Pickering whi died in 1934. During her marriage she lived for a time on a farm west Reeds, Mo., moving later to a farm near Miami, Oklahoma.
After her husband's death she lived in Treece, Ks, with a daughter, Mrs. Addie Sluttz, who passed away in 1956. since that time she had lived with her son, Ora L. Pickering, near Diamond, Mo.
She was member of the Bapitst church, Peoria, Oklahoma.
Surviving are three other sons, Willis Pickering of Baxter Springs, Ks, Oscar Pickering of Miami, Okla. and Walter Pickering of Wellington, Ks, and one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Estes of Rogers, Ar., 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00, Sunday afternoon at Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Ks. the Rev. Roy Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Baxter Springs Cemetery under the direction of Wene Funeral Home of Baxter Springs, Ks. The family will be at the home of Willis Pickering home, 1229 Grant Ave, Baxter Springs, Ks.
Pallbearers will be Clarence Pickering, Walter Pickering, Joe Pickering, John Pickering, Joe Barnett and Kenneth Smith.
