September 3, 1935 - July 24, 2023
Barbara Jean Ade-Baer was born in Vernonia, Oregon, on September 3, 1935. When she reached the age of 16, she married and later gave birth to six children, setting up residence together in rural Goble, Oregon. Family was the most important thing in Barbara's life, followed closely by her love of horses and square dancing.
Barbara was a very strong woman, inside and out. She was always optimistic, seeing the good side of everything and everybody. She was dedicated to passing along these admirable qualities to her children, raising all six to be honest, loving, and caring individuals.
The family was never without, Barbara saw to that. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, from strawberry picking to employment with Scappoose Industries. In addition to raising and supporting a family, she enjoyed caring for horses, cows, and other farm animals at home.
Dancing was more than a hobby for Barbara, it was a passion. While she enjoyed all types, square dancing was her favorite. When not dancing herself, she could be found cueing square dancers as a caller or teaching line dancing at the senior center. Barbara was very loved for the time and energy she shared with the local community.
At 50 years-old, Barbara married the love of her life, Norman Baer. They were fortunate to share thirty-five wonderful years together, until his passing in 2019. Barbara was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Brown.
Barbara (Mom, Momma) is survived by her children: Carol Wilson, Debra Cumberland, Wendy Jones, Steven Ade, and David Ade. She will also be fondly remembered by her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara's presence will be missed dearly, but her goodness and love will live on forever in the hearts of all those who knew her.
