John Edward Angel, 81, of Marble Hill, MO, passed away on October 16, 2023, at the Stonebridge Nursing Facility in Marble Hill. He was born on January 6, 1942, to the late Marion and Loretta (Barks) Angel, in Patton, MO.
John worked as a high-lift operator at the Lutesville Pallet Factory for 30 years. He then worked for B&B Lumber for 19 years prior to retiring. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, wood working. He had mastered the craft of building ladders inside of glass bottles. He built lawn furniture and chairs. John had many things to occupy his time, but most of all he was a family man. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always telling stories, pulling pranks and making everyone laugh. He enjoyed a good story, a cup of coffee and a "Good Money Chew."
On July 26, 1964, in Patton, MO, John Angel and Joyce Newell were united in marriage. They attended the Scopus Church of Christ for nearly 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Joyce; one son: John E. Angel Jr. of Patton, MO; three daughters: Loretta (Charles) Shaffer of Marble Hill, MO, Mahetta (Billy Myers) Angel of Glen Allen, MO, Charlotte Walker of Patton, MO; two brothers: Tim (Pam) Angel and Tom Angel of Marble Hill, MO; six grandchildren: Chris, Monica, Kyle, Kristy, Levi, and Jhonni; thirteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and several friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kenneth Ray and Charles Angel; two sisters: Faye Giddens and Phyliss James; and three grandchildren: Johnathon, Travis and Shawn.
Pallbearers will be: Levi Myers, Kyle Angel, Chris Whaley, John Angel Jr., Kenny Harman, Chris Summers, Billy Myers and Charlotte Walker.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Kelly Francis officiating. Burial will conclude at the Cook Cemetery near Scopus, MO.
