BRAWLEY, Oct 18-Bayard Hubbert, 20 years, a rodman for the California Development company's survey outfit, was accidentally shot and killed by R. VanWagenen, a fellow employee, while hunting ducks this afternoon north of Brawley. Hubbert's body was brought to Brawley by VanWagenen and Howard King, also of the party. VanWagenen became mired in swampy ground and called Hubbert to assist. Hubbert grabbed the shotgun in VanWagenen's hands by the muzzle end. It exploded and Hubbert was shot in the right groin and died a few minutes later. Hubbert has a brother, L.C. Hubbert, at 164 Bartol Street, Los Angeles and parent at Oceanside.
