FRONT ROYAL - Charles Edgar McCarty, 48, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Mr. McCarty was born Sept. 22, 1958, in Terra Alta, W.Va., son of Kay Cullers McCarty and the late Charles L. McCarty. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, enjoyed bowling and had recently taken up golf.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jerry and Helen McCarty; and maternal grandparents, Edgar L. Cullers in 1947 and Jane Graham Smith in 1997.

Surviving are his loving wife, Sharon McCarty; two daughters, Holly McCarty of Front Royal and Cassie Nichols and husband Todd of Luray; one granddaughter, Autumn (affectionately known to him as ?Boopers?); his mother, Kay Meyers and her husband Jim of Warren, Ohio; four sisters, Tammy Fridley and husband Paul of Warren, Karla Neal and husband Brett of Niles, Ohio, Lisa Keller and husband Curtis of Toms Brook, and Melissa Upperman and husband Richard of Winchester; a step-grandfather, Alva Smith of Kingwood, W.Va.; his good buddy General; and many other nieces, nephews and other family members.

A funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 6, at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

Memorials may be made to Rivermont Volunteer Fire Department or the American Diabetes Association.
