William Roy Mauerman, age 73, passed away at home in Janesville on October 18, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1950 in Stoughton, WI, the son of Harold and Virginia (Fenn) Mauerman. He grew up on the family dairy farm, was active in 4-H and FFA, and graduated from Evansville High School in 1968. Bill worked on the line at General Motors for many years; after retirement from GM, he enjoyed being a school bus and charter bus driver for Van Galder. Bill was a member of Magnolia Advent Christian Church his entire life. Bill was also a volunteer firefighter in Footville, WI, for many years. He enjoyed going to sprint car races, road trips, watching barges sail down the Mississippi, and watching Packers and Brewers games. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife; his children; his grandchildren; his brother and best friend; aunts; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his grandpuppy. Bill is also survived by a close friend, Deb who the family thanks for being a support to Bill in his last years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Lucia (Gardner) Mauerman; sisters Sally Reisem and Jeanne Johnson; sister-in-law Beverly Mauerman; brother-in-law Jay Johnson; and niece Janice Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home, Evansville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home and from 11:00 until time of service on Friday. Burial will follow at East Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia Township.
