Mary Frances (Watson) Battle was born on May 1, 1907 in Davidson County, Tennessee, the daughter of William Madison Watson (ca 1869–1959) and Estella (Wisner) Watson (ca 1871–1958).

She was married in June 1927 to William Gentry Battle (20 Aug 1905–15 Dec 1987), the son of James Arllen Battle and Birdie D (Edmonson) Battle.

Living in Nashville, Davidson County, Mary died January 26, 2002, a widow and 94 years old.

Survivors included daughters Willorine Frances Alexander & husband John Baptist Alexander, Birdie Lee Battle and Mildred J Head, all in Nashville, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held on January 30th at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, and burial was in Watson Family Cemetery, with arrangements through J W Adkins Funeral Home.
