Actor, Director, Author and Voice Actor. He graduated from high school in 1941 and served as a Lieutenant in the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) at the end of World War II. After the war, he took acting lessons and received his first acting part, at the Villingen Municipal Theatre, in 1946. He later later landed roles at the State Theaters in Stuttgart and Kassel. Since 1964, he had appeared at nearly every major theater in Hamburg. In total he performed over 100 roles in television, games (voice parts), and films. He was best known his roles in "Cliff Dexter" (1966), "The Bridge at Remagen" (1969), and a plethora of German language feature films, going all the way back to his first, in 1943. Highly versatile with his talents, he also directed on many productions and was the author of numerous books. As a voice actor, he had a number of speaking roles in radio plays. Furthermore, he lent his voice for the dubbing of numerous colleagues, in more than 20 episodes of the western TV series Bonanza. He was a long-standing board member of the Film & Television Professional Group (BFF) and an honorary member of the successor organization, Federal Association of Film and Television Actors (BFFS). Rolf passed away in his hometown of Hamburg, after a short illness.
