The eldest son of Col. John Banister (1734–1788) as mentioned in his Jan 1788 Will. Like his father, Jack was a family friend of Thomas Jefferson and traveled under his wing with him in France. John Jr dued exactly eleven weeks after his father passed on Sept 30th 1788. At the time of his death, the younger Banister was listed as owing Thomas Jefferson 3,173 livres.
