Gerald Edmond Reilly, Sr. "Jerry"

Age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

He was the son of the late Sen. John E. Reilly and Alice Scanlon Reilly. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Nettie Coleman Reilly and seven children, Kathleen Grillo (the late Vincent), Susan Brown (Alfred), Elizabeth Carpenter (Charles), Sheila Paradee (Paul), Robin Reilly (Kevin Haughney), Gerald, Jr. and John III; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph and Francis; two sisters, Teresa and Elianor; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Donald Reilly and a sister, Alice Mulshenoch.

Gerald was a retired member of the Sheet Metal Local 59/19 for 65 years, former New Castle County Sheriff for 2 years, Register of Wills for 4 years, and Winterthur Museum for over 20 years. He has been a lifetime member of Old St. Mary Catholic Church. Gerald's life revolved around doing everything with his family. He loved spending time at his beach home, boating, wintering in Naples, FL, and traveling to the islands with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 10 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 9 AM. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
