Hugh McNeish Alderson Jr., age 74, of Englewood, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton. Born on September 30, 1949, to the late Francis Pauline (Diffendal) and Hugh McNeish Alderson Sr. in Springfield, Ohio. Hugh was a passionate truck driver for Yellow Freight for more than 30 years. He transitioned his career to become a Respiratory Therapist and worked for Good Samaritan Hospital for many years. He then was employed at Reid Memorial Hospital where he assisted in starting their Respiratory Program for open heart surgery. He also taught Respiratory Therapy at Ivy Tech College. He was a Mason for Fielding Post #192 in South Charleston. He enjoyed camping, attending festivals for the food, old western movies, and anything to ensure his wife was happy. His family called him "Mr. Mom", he did everything for his family and always made sure they were well taken care of.
Hugh is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years: Linda (McGriff) Alderson, children: Daniel Alderson, Hugh (Dana) Alderson III, Trecia (Bruce) Waring, Amy Hill, Ryan (Heather) Hill, grandchildren: Jarid Alderson, Danielle (Jameson) Morrow, Jacob Alderson, Brock, Braxon, Brodi, & Bryson Waring, Ashley Hill, Mariah Garcia, Zalynn Rummels, Wesley, Breanna, Rylee, & Easton Hill, great grandchildren: Zeke, Zander, & Remi Morrow, Ne'Vaeh, & Zayden-Mychael Viviano, Alan, & Avah "Mac" Walker, siblings: Libby (Rick) Renick, Trecia Alderson, Bob (Roxann) Alderson, sister-in-law: Bonnie (Willie) Schuch, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his grandsons: Tommy & Patrick Alderson, great grandson: Myles Viviano, and mother-in-law: Mildred Dilyerd.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd. Englewood, OH) with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow the service at Castine Cemetery in Darke County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton (1661 Nicholas Rd, Dayton, OH 45417) in Hugh's memory.
