Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Wingate Auld, 90, who died at 10:40 p.m. Monday in a local hospital following a long illness, were held at 11 a.m. today in Hassell & Foster Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating. Pallbearers were from the Crockett Road Church of Christ. Burial will be in Land of Memory. (Mrs. Auld is actually buried in Roselawn Park Cemetery.) Mrs. Auld was born July 1, 1886 in Martins Mill in Van Zandt County, a daughter of W.C. Williams and Texana Truss Williams. She had lived in Anderson County most of her life, in Springfield, Montalba, and Palestine. For many years she was employed at City Cleaners, and Palestine Laundry and Cleaners. She was a member of Crockett Road Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, John Clifford Wingate of Palestine; daughters, Miss Zelma Mae Wingate, and Mrs. Mary Keleher, both of Palestine, and Mrs. Minnie Ola Wingate Bankston of Baytown; half sister, Mrs. C.T. (Mattie) Harper of Palestine; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; stepsons, , Tommy J. Auld of Palestine, and John Wesley (Tip) Auld of Natchez, Miss.; and stepsisters, Mrs. Roy (Evelyn) Ward of Palestine, Mrs. Milton (Ethel) Avant of Palestine, Mrs. Ruby O'Farrell of Longview, and Mrs. Freddie Owens of Tyler. The family will receive condolence calls at the John Clifford Wingate residence, 118 Sequoia, phone 729-3381.

Bessie Williams Wingate Auld was a resident of Palestine when she died Oct. 11, 1976 at Anderson County Memorial Hospital. She married her first husband, Nathan W. Wingate, on June 26, 1904 in Anderson County, Texas. Their nine children were Zelma Mae, Mary Audre (Pickens), Joseph Howard, Minnie Ola (Mrs. Terry Lee Bankston), Juanita, John Clifford, Nathan Raymond, J.W. "Wally", and Mary Magdalene (Mrs. Leroy Thomas Keleher). After the death of Mr. Wingate, she married John David Auld, Oct. 25, 1951. Mr. Auld also preceded her in death.
