Victor Olof Beckman was born on August 20, 1866, in the locality of Bäch, Tveta Parish, Varmland County, Sweden. He was the third of six children of Jon Olofsson Beckman and Clara Sophia (Sjögren) Beckman. He was baptized in Sweden as Olof Wiktor Jönsson. In 1881, 15-year-old Olof immigrated to Michigan UP. He became known as Victor Olof Beckman. The surname of Beckman possibly coming from the location of his birthplace -Bäch. In 1894 he homesteaded 160 acres in Section 14 of in Township 46 N of Range 23 W of the Michigan Meridian. Homestead Certificate No. 2440. The property is in Skandia Township, Marquette County, Michigan. On January 16, 1909, 42-year-old Victor married 45-year-old widow Sarah (Andrson) Johnson in Marquette, Michigan. They did not have any children. O. Victor Beckman died on April 20, 1934, at the age of 67 from hemorrhaging stomach ulcers in Marquette, Michigan.
