Robert "Bob" C. Bailey, Jr. 80 of Manchester, GA died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Piedmont Columbus Midtown Regional Medical Center, in Columbus, GA.
Bob, as he was best known to his family and friends, was born March 20, 1943, in Portland, ME, the son of Robert C. Bailey, Sr. and Madaline Villacci Bailey. He retired from the U. S. Marine Corp. as a Master Sergeant having served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Marine Corp., he worked for the U. S, Postal Service until his retirement in 2005. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a gun enthusiast and had a vast knowledge about firearms. He also enjoyed cooking. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Gary Bailey and Timothy Bailey.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Buce Bailey of Manchester, GA, son Robert C. Bailey, III and his wife Lisa of Richardson, TX, daughter Sandy Bailey of Greenville, GA, sister Patty (Walt) Haskell of Laconia, NH, brother Bruce (Adena) Bailey of Cumberland, ME, sister- in-laws Kathy Bailey of Gray, ME and Judy Trainor of New Gloucester, ME, Grandchildren Kristina (Matthew) Brown, Trevor McClure (fiancee Rachel Smith) Adele Bailey and great-grandchild Addelynn Brown with several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Manchester City Cemetery with full military honors. If there is inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Chapel at Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
