Sidney J. "Uncle Sid" TilIman, 81, of Naples, Florida, died Thursday, Febmary 17, 2000. He was the son of the late Ernest A. Tillman , Laura Upthegrove Tillman and Annie Mae TilIman. Mr. Tillman was born February 8, 1919, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was raised in the Lake Okeechobee area and moved to Miami after serving in the Army during W.W.II. He settled in Naples in the 1960's. Mr. Tillman was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Mr. Tillman is survived by: his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Vereen Tillman ; his son, Gary (Linda) Tillman ; his daughter, Kathryn (Wayne) Bergquist; grandchildren, Catherine Tillman , Melanie (Forrest) Hemingway and Michael Bergquist; great-grandchildren, A.J., Amanda, and Courtney Tillman and Victoria Hemingway, all of Naples, and Tyler Strahs of Sarasota. Mr. Tillman is also survived by: his sister, Ada (Coleman) Conley of Port Mayaca; brother, Ernest, Jr. (Carol) Tillman of Key Largo; sister, Vangie (Clyde) Platt of Satellite Beach; a large extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Tillman in 1936, and his son, Sidney Tillman , Jr., in 1976.

Friends may call at Walter Shikany's Funeral Home, 1000 New US 41, Bonita Springs, Florida on Monday, February 21, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m when a funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Sam Conley.

Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, February 22, at 11:00 a.m, at Port Mayaca Cemetery in Port Mayaca, Florida
