Al was born and raised in Northern New Jersey; a graduate of Cliffside Park High School. He went on to graduate from Englewood Cliffs College, and then New Jersey City University, majoring in English. He started his career as an English Teacher and taught 7th and 8th grade English, as well as coached basketball in North Bergen, NJ. He left teaching after two years, and went on to become a Property Claims Adjuster for multiple insurance companies before retiring with Chubb in 2016. He moved to Rochelle Park in 1981, where he raised his son and was active in the community as a little league baseball coach for over 10 years. Anyone who knew Al knew what an avid Jets fan he was, convinced that every week The Jets were going to win, and every year they were going to the Super Bowl. He was a Jets season ticket holder from 1988-2007 and is remembered by some as the only student at Cliffside Park High School in 1969 to win money on Super Bowl 3. Two people in the world guaranteed a Jets victory in that game, Joe Namath and Al Forte. He was also a 76ers and Yankees fan who idolized Mickey Mantle growing up. Al was a passionate Bob Dylan fan, going to dozens of his concerts since the early 1970's. Al also "knew" that Muhammed Ali was the greatest fighter and Wilt Chamberlain was the greatest NBA player of all time. After retirement, Al's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Jane and Cooper.

Al is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Marion Forte, as well as his sister Anna Tomei, and niece Melissa Banta. He is survived by his son Beau Forte and wife Samantha and grandchildren Jane and Cooper of West Milford NJ, as well as sisters Patricia Forte of Deerfield Beach FL, and Jacqueline Franzese (husband Peter) of Concord NC, a brother in-law Ronald Tomei of Riviera Benach FL, as well as 5 nieces (Lisa, Dawn, Jeanine, Lenore, Carolyn) and one nephew (Peter), along with many cousins, great-nieces/nephews and many dear friends.

Visitation and memorial service was held Saturday, November 11 at 2pm, Vander Plaat Memorial, 113 S Farview Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652
