Born on August 6, 1929, in Midland, he was the son of the late Frederick and Hulda (Feinauer) Gerstacker. Earl's early years were spent on the family farm, and he completed his education in 1948 as a graduate of Midland High School. His profound love for farming, which ignited during his formative years, became a lifelong passion.
On December 11, 1954, he joined in matrimony with the love of his life. They celebrated 68 years of marriage, sharing a home on the farm where they cultivated crops, raised livestock, and nurtured their family. Earl's life came full circle as he witnessed the fourth generation of the family embracing their own farming journeys. He took great pride in leaving behind a lasting legacy for future generations, both in the fields and in a life guided by wholesome Christian principles.
Throughout his life, Earl actively supported his community. He was a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities. He held the position of an elected Larkin Township Trustee, contributed to the Michigan Milk Producers Board, and was the last surviving founding member of the Larkin Township Fire Department. His involvement extended to the Farm Bureau, and in high school, he earned the FFA's American Farmer degree.
Earl's warm and affable personality, coupled with his sharp sense of humor, endeared him to many. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, woodworking, as well as camping, card games, and travel with family and friends. He wholeheartedly supported his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their 4-H endeavors and all aspects of life.
Earl was preceded in death by his brother, Clair (Donna) Gerstacker, and in-laws Anita (Raymond) Dietlein, Herb Schmidt, Herb (Eldora) Tomke, Florence Koch, as well as great-grandson, Landon Vasicek.
