CARTER, Dorothy E., age 99, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Dorothy was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton.
Supportive and caring, Dorothy had a giving heart and often donated to feline-related charities. She loved animals and never hesitated to rescue and care for stray cats. She greatly enjoyed crocheting and getting her hair done, the latter of which she did every two weeks. She was a proud housewife and an excellent cook. Her husband, Ray, would drop whatever he was doing to be home at 4 PM every day to be present for dinner with Dorothy. Her cherry pie and salmon Patties were some of her best, but she would make whatever Ray liked to eat. Ray enjoyed her salmon patties so much that she made them every week. Her other hobbies included working crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune nightly, and viewing Billy Graham music specials on TV. Among many things, Dorothy will be remembered for the special relationship she and her husband shared.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond, in 2009; her parents, Walter and Lulu Finfrock; and two infant children. She is survived by approximately 50 first cousins and several second and third cousins; dear friends, Kenton and Linda Hill and Linda and Tom Lovett; high school classmate and lifelong friend, Virginia Witt; and the many loving family members of her beloved husband, Ray.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 6 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. A committal service and burial will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 5, at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. Pastor Dennis Leach will be officiating the services.
