A devoted wife and mother, Anita moved with her husband Ken Barnett to South Gate in the Los Angeles area of California in 1951 and settled in Downey, California with her husband. Ken worked at the Seven-Up Bottling Company in Southern California for 43 years, retiring in 1990. In addition to raising her six children, all surviving her, she worked with Ken buying, selling, and renting real estate for many years. Anita and Ken remained in Downey until 1999. They resided in Gardnerville, Nevada for about a year before relocating to Galt, California to be nearer to their children, where they have lived for the past 24 years. Ken and Anita were married for 73 years and were blessed with 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Anita was predeceased by her parents, her brother Richard, two grandchildren and her beloved husband. Anita is survived by all of her children, Diane Bennett, Lynn Barnett, Karen Ricketts, Sandra Hughes, Kenneth Barnett, and Betty Johnson, along with their families. Anita was a caring mother and wife. She loved to be with family, especially children, horse racing, traveling, playing poker and canasta as well as trips to the local casinos.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND followed by burial at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery near Oakes.
