Dale E. Mayfield Sr., 92, of Massillon, passed away on October 27, 2023. He was born on April 30, 1931 to the late Peter and Zora (Mathis) Mayfield in Massillon, OH.

Dale worked as a Train Engineer for the Norfolk & Southern Railway for 30 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Massillon American Legion - Post #221, The Amvets #12 and the VFW #3124.

Dale enjoyed traveling to his military reunions and working in his garden. He was a jokester and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his children Caroline Shreffler, Dale Mayfield, Jr., Beverly (Joe) Pentello, and, James E. (Salli) Mayfield; his step-children Christina Swisher and Bryan Mayfield and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Carl (Betty) Mayfield and a host of family and friend s. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his sons Bill Prano and Jacob Mayfield; his brothers Russell, Ralph, Bob and Paul Mayfield and his sisters Helen Kohl and Betty Staugh.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon on Monday, November 06, 2023 at 11a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 05, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. the Brookfield Cemetery.
