From Samuel's death certificate: Samuel A. McClane born 17th of January 1887, in Illinois, to Finis McClean. His occupation was grinder for Zenith Carburetor, he was never in the armed forces, he was married to Ida McClane and his ususal residence was 656 Emerson, Detroit, Michigan. He died on the 25th of January 1951, in Receiving Hospital, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, from congestive heart failure. He was buried on the 29th of January in Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Detroit, Michigan, by Jerome A. DeSantis.

Note: Samuel's mother is reported to have been killed by a tornado, and father died in a tent, so said by his daughter Vera.

On the marriage license, his father is listed as George McClane and his mother is listed as Mattie Jackson. Samuel was living in Harrisburg, Illinois at the time of the wedding, with Minnie living in Creal Springs.
