William Evert Calvin was born June 17, 1872 in McDonough County, Ill., a son of George Bailey Calvin and Margaret Hoover and passed away at the family farm in Schuyler county, Illinois, July 20, 1947.
Except for a period while attending the University of Illinois his entire life was spent on the farm where he passed away.

He was recognized as a success in his vocation of farming, a way of living which he loved from boyhood. His greatest pleasure probably came from his close association with nature.
Mr. Calvin was a member of the Masonic Order. He was baptized in the Camden Christian church during Rev. Chandler's pastorate.
Preceding him in death were several infant brothers and sisters, an older brother, Samuel, a sister, Ida.His sister Phebe, passed away the same day. Surviving are two sisters, Mary and Edith, nephews, Ivan, Everett and Victor Hopper, and a number of cousins in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri. Besides the immediate family a great number of friends will mourn his passing.
