When in high school, Lucille was a model for her mother's women's clothing store in Alhambra, California. At the age of twenty-one she married Sheldon E. Aarens. They bought a home in Los Angeles and raised their children, Marc Howard Aarens and Debra Gail Aarens. Lucille was completely devoted to her family. She and my father provided an ideal home for our family; filled with joy and strong family values. Lucille was kind, compassionate, smart, possessed a great sense of humor, was sophisticated and strikingly beautiful.
Sadly, our family suffered the tragic passing of our father, Sheldon E. Aarens in 1967. After Sheldon passed away, Lucille suggested that every Valentine's Day she and her children, Marc and Debra, should always exchange Valentines to make that day special. Debra said, "I have so many years worth of loving Valentines (and Birthday cards) from my mom and brother". Lucille exhibited strength and determination when returning to the workforce, and held a prestigious position at CBS Television Studios in Los Angeles, California. She was a devoted friend and was loved and respected by her coworkers and friends.
Lucille was predeceased by her loving parents, Claire and James Goldberg, adoring husband, Sheldon E. Aarens, her extremely close brothers, Sid Craig and Maurice Holas. Her adored son, Marc Howard Aarens, passed away shortly after Lucille. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Gail Aarens, loving niece, Rose Erickson, Rose's brother Marvin Holas, and close, loving cousins, Scott and Melinda Koppel.
In May of 2022, there was an Unveiling at Hillside Memorial Park for Lucille and her son Marc. This was followed by a wonderful 'Celebration of Life' luncheon. Special thanks to Scott and Melinda Koppel and Rose and Jim Erickson for their unwavering love and support. Thanks also to lifetime friends, Ruth Wessels and daughters Ruth and Carrie. Also, greatly appreciated friends, Steve Wallace, Emily Kocurek, Sydney Singer, Andrea V. Refuerzo and Fortunato Q. Udarb, all of whom attended the service. And those who were there in spirit, cousin Craig Koppel, and longtime good friends, Beth Francavilla and Samantha Santino. You have my extreme gratitude for the compassionate love and caring exhibited by the support and help you have selflessly given me along the way. God Bless You.
