The death of Jessie Louise Patience Gladwin Turnbull, wife of the late Hugh H. Turnbull, MBE, QC, occurred on Tuesday, February 24, 1998 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of Captain and Mrs. Gladwin. Born in Halifax in 1908, she spent her early life in New York, the West Indies and Bermuda. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 1929 and then taught at Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School in Montreal. She served as vice-president of the Junior League in 1944 and she also became a docent at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Mrs. Turnbull was a member of the Hillside Tennis Club, the Indoor Tennis Club and the Metis Beach Tennis Club. As well, she was a member of the Kennebecasis Garden Club, St. Paul's ACW, the IODE in Saint John and the Monday Bible Study Group. - Published by The Globe and Mail on Feb. 27, 1998.
