HAZEL GREEN, Wis. -- Ronald K. "Ron" Harwick, 58, of Hazel Green, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Hazel Green, with the Rev. Cy Wiesensel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1949, in Hazel Green, son of Kenneth and Elaine (Smith) Harwick. He married Gwendolyn Wilson on Dec. 6, 1976, in Galena, Ill.
Ron was a former member of the Hazel Green Village Board. He coached softball for many years. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman for many years and a diehard Bears fan.
Ron's greatest love was his family. The happiest day of his life was when he met his wife, Gwen, followed by the births of his daughters and grandchildren. He was like a second father to all of his nieces and nephews. Ron touched the lives of everyone he met and always faced his challenges in life head-on.
Surviving are his wife, Gwen, of Hazel Green; three daughters, Carla (Josh) Welter and Carrie (Nick) Wiegman, both of Cuba City, and Heather (special friend, Michael) Harwick, of Madison; a special nephew, Chad (special friend, Beth) Harwick, of Peosta, Iowa; his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Gerry Wilson, of Hazel Green; three sisters, Beth (Scott) Sjovall, of Westby, and Rhonda Harwick and Shirley Wasmund, both of Galena; a sister-in-law, Janice Miller; six brothers-in-law, Bill, Greg, Rod, Rob and James Wilson, and Dave Harwick Sr.; and four grandchildren, Chloe and Emily Wiegman, and Hailey and Cailyn Welter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Craig; a sister, Audrey; and a brother-in-law, Gary.
