Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, November 13, 2023, Mr. John Welton Adcox, 94, husband of 70 years to the late Mrs. Lucille Delores Adcox. John was affectionately known to all as "Pop" and was a proud United States Air Force veteran.

John was born in Rockingham, North Carolina on October 17, 1929 to Albert and Julia Dallas Adcox. John was the youngest of five siblings. On January 13, 1950, John married the love of his life, Lucille Delores Crawford, in Augusta, Georgia. In 1952, John joined the United States Air Force and went to school in Texas to train soldiers on aircraft mechanics and engineering. He did tours in France, North Africa, and multiple Scandinavian countries. John and Delores went on to have three children, Mike, Chris, and Angela. They resided in Oklahoma while John taught college and engineers through the simulator and flying phrase of a transitional school. After 20 years and 12,000 hours of flying time, John decided to retire to his hometown of Augusta GA. John spent his post-retirement working security for Georgia Power, where he also retired from. After this retirement, John served as a member of the Scottish Rite, spent time at Edisto Beach with his family, loved smoking meats on the grill for all to enjoy, and dressed up as Santa for his grandchildren.

Family members include sons: Michael Adcox (Patsy), Chris Adcox (Susie); grandchildren: Steven Greene (Allison), Rachel A. Prothman (Mikey) and Dallas Adcox; and great-grandchildren: Sarah, Sebastian, Sophia, and Michael. John was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Lucille Adcox, his daughter, Angela Adcox Greene, his grandson: John Michael Adcox; his parents, Albert and Julia Dallas Adcox, his brothers and sisters-in-law Duncan (Jackie) Adcox and Dorson (Sue) Adcox; and his sisters and brothers-in-law Carlene Williams (Robert) and Elaine Rogers (William).

The funeral service was held Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Pastor Kim Hancock officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park.
