Lonnie Monroe Beach, 87, of Bells Highway, Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 14, 2023, under the care of Riverview Health and Rehabilitation in Savannah, GA, surrounded by his loving family. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3080 Okatie Hwy, Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of the service at the cemetery.

Lonnie was born August 17, 1936 in Savannah, GA, a native of Bluffton, SC, the son of the late Albert Kistler Beach and Bridie Hudson Beach. He married Shirley Katherine Louis of Pritchardville, SC, his late wife of 51 years and the love of his life. After the family moved to Walterboro, SC nearly 50 years ago, they founded The Petal Palace Florist in Walterboro, where Shirley designed flowers and Lonnie sold produce. He was also the manager of TranSouth Finance until retirement. After retirement, he worked as a watermelon buyer for Interstate Packers in Yemassee.

Lonnie was devoted to his family, the highlight of his life. Lonnie and Shirley were well known for their love of dancing. They were loved by many, which was demonstrated by the numerous people who attended the many cookouts hosted at their home. Lonnie was well known for his cooking and grilling. It was always a wonderful occasion for those who attended. One of his great joys was sitting with friends and family, sharing stories of all his misadventures, but he would not hold back on telling on someone else. He loved sharing and helping others anyway he could. People's love for Lonnie was also very evident in the concern and care shown to his family since the diagnosis of his illness. The love of the community will forever be a comfort to his family and is greatly appreciated.

Lonnie is survived by his three children, Lonnie M. Beach, Jr. of Okatie, SC, Karen Beach Waters of Walterboro, and Shirley Beach Jarriel (W. David) of Collins, GA; his brother, Albert Beach of Bluffton; his grandchildren, John Steve Waters, III "Tres", Chelci Avant, Dixie Marie Jarriel, Rachel Lynn Jarriel, Emily Elizabeth Jarriel, and Sara Graycn Propst. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Annette Traband, James Beach, Isabelle Kleckley, Mary Fell, Louise Padgett, Bernice Koberg, Raymond Beach, and Eddie Beach.

Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
