Ross Snyder Brown, 92, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at his residence in Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Prim, daughters, Kittie Brown and Dr. Ann Allen Salter (Rusty), brother, Frank (Carol), grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, Peter (Roxie), and Joi McGowin, Will and Taylor Salter, stepchildren, John Walter Parker (Tosha), Elizabeth Kimbell Latone (Sam), and step-grandchildren, John, Jake, and Sam Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lefay Frank Brown and Ethel Ray (Snyder) Brown, brothers, Billy and Lee Brown, and grandson, Christopher Ross McGowin. Ross was born on September 16, 1930 in Birmingham and graduated from Phillips High School. His youth and beyond was filled with travels and outdoor adventures.

He was an Eagle Scout and served the US Forest Service in Idaho for three summers. His lifelong interest in flying was inspired at the age of 13, by his first flight with Eddie Rickenbacker, America's first WWI ace. Ross went on to become an instrument rated pilot and aircraft owner. Love for airplanes, boats, and the great outdoors would continue throughout his life. He received a degree in Architecture from Auburn in 1953 and then served in the US Army, honorably discharged 8 years later with the rank of captain. He practiced architecture in Montgomery for 45 years and served his community through numerous civic organizations, including United Way Chairman for multiple years. Ross was recognized nationally with numerous prestigious architecture awards and is credited with many IBM buildings throughout the country as well as many of Montgomery's downtown buildings.

Ross, aka "Captain Snapper," described his life as a great adventure and he inspired young and older men alike. His love for the Lord, family, and friends only grew stronger as he aged. He was a member of Christchurch Anglican at which a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, 2:00 pm, with Fr. Andrew Rowell officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service at Christchurch's Canterbury Hall.
