Zina Ruth Whaley Lindsey Davis went to be with her lord on May 18th, 2012 at the age of 101. Born and raised in Greenbrier till the age of 13, her home place is now a part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She was a woman who cared deeply for her family, was a blessing to them, as well as blessed by them past and present.
She strived to keep her mountain heritage alive through genealogy, storytelling, and writing. She was a woman of many talents holding a degree in cosmetology, nursing, and dental hygiene. She could play the piano, paint a portrait, hoe a garden, make a quilt or anything else she set her mind to. Her memory will be cherished and her friendship missed. Imprinted in our hearts and lives is the love she shared and will continue to be felt through the memory of her gentle touch and beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, William (Vander Bill) and Sallie Jane Whaley, brothers and sister being the youngest of 13 children she now rejoins them in Heaven, along with her Husband Coy N. Lindsey, Daughter Reba Freeman, and Husband Albert Davis. She leaves behind Grandchildren, James Carroll and Susan Graves, Rick & Judy Hollifield, Great Grand Children, Missy Large and Husband Oliver, James Laney and wife Melissa, Tracy Helton and husband Scott, Rita Laymon and Husband Paul, Andy Graves and Wife Terah, Daniel Graves, Great Great Grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Burton, Braydon Helton, Taylor and Connor Laymon, Cole and Connor Graves, Archer and Johanna Laney. A heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth Denton, Jim Atchley, and First Baptist Church which she had been a member over 70 years.
