BARBARA M. GOSSENS
(1941 - 2023)

Barbara M. Gossens, age 82, of DePere, died on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. She was born July 22, 1941 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Leo & Magdalene (Pennings) Benotch. Barb married Robert Gossens on April 8, 1958 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna.
Much of her working career was devoted to the care of the elderly. She was also an integral part of her husband's charter fishing business aboard "The Lucky Penny".

They always had a dream of living in Door County in their retirement. When that dream was realized, she helped her sister with her catering business in the Door County area.

She loved her home and enjoyed making it a place where family and friends could gather and enjoy her homemade cooking and baking. She devoted her entire life to caring for others and making them feel special. Everyone lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Barb".

As an avid sports fan, it wasn't uncommon for her to be watching ESPN, listening to the Brewers and attending countless games for family members. In her free time she enjoyed reading, bird watching, crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially 13 Skidoo, and going on long drives around the countryside with no particular destination.

She is survived by her son: Guy (Carrie) Gossens; a daughter-in-law: Linda Gossens (partner, Tim Linders); 3 grandchildren: Emily (Tony) Tippett, Ashley (Login) Huebner, Stephanie (Cole) Stilen; her first great-grandchild (arriving in April); a sister: Carrie (Peter) Sherrill; her nieces: Hilary (Drew) O'Brien, Mary Ann Walton, Alex Benotch, Paula Benotch, Desseria (Jordan) Kopac, Heather (Nima) Abrahim; a nephew: Scott (Erin) Hoffman; and her great nieces and nephews: Mason Hoffman, Jack, Ben, & Sam O'Brien, Mac & Maggie Hoffman, Jake & Eden Kopac, Alison Abraham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Bob; her sons: Norb & Jere Gossens; her siblings: Jerry (Ruth) Benotch, Carol (George) Corombos, Dave (Kay) Benotch, an infant sister: Virginia; and a nephew: John Benotch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church (309 Desnoyer St.) in Kaukauna. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 am until 12:45 pm on Wednesday, before the service.
