Rosa Bell(aka Big Mama) was the only child of
Arabella D. Hughlett Welch Bevis and Thomas Bevis. Her mother was widowed from Fleming Paul Welch and Rosa Bell had a half brother and sister. She married William Hamilton Pugh in 1909 and had 10 children. One daughter Ethel died before age 3. Her children were Hamilton, Lottie, Evelyn, Edna Isabelle Pugh Barrack Ferrier, Wesley, Lurline, Pauline H. Pugh Crouse, Logan and John. Her husband died in 1933 so she was left to raise 5 young children alone during the depression. In her later years she married a man 20 years younger than her.
