Franklin A. Richardson

Franklin A. Richardson, 72, of Colorado Springs died Friday in Penrose Hospital. He served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1965 and retired as a colonel.

No services are planned. Shrine of Rest Funeral Home, 1730 Fountain Blvd., is handling the arrangements. Cremation was planned.

He was born June 21, 1914, in Springfield, Mass. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1959.

His parents were the late Edward and Virginia (Platt) Richardson. Mr. Richardson attended prep schools in Massachusetts and Dartmouth College.

He was married Nov. 11, 1955, in Easton, Md., to Betty Egner, who survives.

Mr. Richardson was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He served with the 8th Airborne and was a B-17 pilot in World War II. He was stationed in England.

Other survivors include three daughters, LIVING; a brother, Malcolm of Tennessee; a stepsister, Mrs. Charles Kuralt of New York City; a sister, Sally Fasano of California and six grandchildren.

Thanks to user James Szpajcher for added detail/clarification: Franklin Richardson served with the 8th Air Force and was a B-17 pilot in World War II. He was stationed in England and commanded the 509th Bomb Squadron of the 351st Bomb Group.
