Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired after 30 years from the maintenance department of Vina Public Schools. Charlie was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hackleburg, AL where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a member of the Ypsilanti Masonic Temple #13. Charlie loved bowling, golfing, and riding his grandchildren and great grandchildren around on his 4-wheeler.
Charlie is survived by his children, Charlotte (Brian) Chenoweth of Tipton, Dynette Byron of Britton and Evan Bishop of Maricopa, AZ; nine grandchildren Vanessa Bishop-Schempp, Amanda Crawford, Stephanie Miller, Geoffrey Byron, Jacquelin Cantu, Christoper, Keith, Vance and Bruce Bishop, 12 great grandchildren, Blaire, Jaslon, Kaia, Drew, Axton, Brayson,Parker, Finley, Deacon, Bishop, Brightyn and Piper. Besides her parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Bishop, grandson, Errol Smith, son-in-law, Stephen Byron and nine siblings.
Visitation for Charlie will be from 12pm-2pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hackleburg, AL. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Ritchie Emerson and Pastor Marshall Emerson officiating. Norma Jean Bishop will be singing special music at the service. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made tot he Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund.
