The son of Dr. Beverley Randolph Wellford and Mary A. Wellford wed to Emmeline Madison Tabb. A Confederate Surgeon, he practiced at Robertson Hospital under Sally Tompkins. He became Emeritus Professor of Diseases of Women and Children at The Medical College of Virginia.
