Myrtic Vonnell Roberts, daughter of Jack and Odell (Jones) Lackey, was born January 26, 1923 in Dresden, Tennessee where she grew up and attended school. As a young girl, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized.

Vonnell was united in marriage to George Clifford Roberts and they were blessed with one daughter: Mary Ann and one son: Gail. Vonnell and George moved their family to Hamilton, Alabama and lived there for more than twenty years. During that time, Vonnell worked for Fred's Dollar Store and enjoyed her time as a retail clerk.

Vonnell moved to the St. Robert area in 1991 to live with her daughter: Mary Ann and treasured the times that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She became a member of the Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church of Waynesville and loved attending church when she was able.

Vonell went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at her home at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 26 days.

Vonell will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her daughter, Mary Ann Jeffreys and her husband, Patrick Lee Jeffreys; 6 grandchildren: Leigh Ann Sheehan of Whiteman AFB, Andrea Patton and Patricia Jeffreys of St. Robert; 9 great-grandchildren: Makayla Jeffreys Patton and Robert Sheehan; 1 great great-granddaughter; other relatives and friends.

She joins in heaven her parents: Jack and Odell Lackey; her husband: George Roberts; and her son: Gail; and one brother: Jones "Jack" Shannon.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 25, 2004 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Reeves officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "I'll Fly Away". Serving as escorts were Darren, Eddie, Rick and Robbie Sapp.

Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
