Millie Ann Banks, 91, of Old Fort, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
Millie was born in McDowell County, NC on December 7, 1931, to the late Robert Ernest Banks and Hattie Elizabeth Wilde Banks.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by two brothers, E.J. Banks and Earl Banks.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Ronnie Owen will officiate and Chris Greene will assist. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Millie was known for her good sense of humor. She loved to travel and was very fond of flowers. She loved spending time with her pets and was an avid reader. When the Old Fort Library opened, Millie volunteered her time before becoming a regularly employed member of the library staff. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by two brothers, E.J. Banks and Earl Banks.
Those left to cherish her memory include a brother, Frank Banks (Judy); a sister, Jo Epley; and many nieces & nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Ronnie Owen will officiate and Chris Greene will assist.
