Ida Bernice Golden was the daughter of John Robert and Minnie Clyde Purdy Golden. She grew up in the Colony, Missouri area and was a member of the Colony Methodist Church.

She was a 1923 graduate of Gorin High School. She also graduated with a BSE from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO.

Bernice was a school teacher for 41 years. She taught every grade level as well as music in Scotland, Knox, and Lewis Counties.

She had a sincere love of music and was very talented at the piano. She gave piano lessons to many area children.
