Dr. D. WADE ARMSTRONG
83 years old, of Pahokee, FL and Ceredo, W.Va., died Sunday, March 2, 2003. A pastor, professor, denominational leader, author and missionary, he was a bond servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, having served in the ministry for 65 years. Dr. Armstrong ministered in over 17 countries, and at present was serving as the pastor for the First Baptist Church of Pahokee. He was the former Director of Missions, Palm Lake Baptist Association, from 1971 to 1979. In 1971, he brought the Singing Christmas Tree to the area, through the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley W. Armstrong ; his sons, Daniel W. Armstrong , Jr. (wife, Kay), Ernest Armstrong (wife, Darla), James E. Armstrong (wife, Mary), and Chris Shirley (wife, Isabel); and his daughters; Miriam Armstrong and Leigh Stites (husband, Mark). Also surviving are two sisters: Geneva Dismukes and Leigh Maass; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Pahokee, 225 Bacom Point Road, Pahokee, FL, conducted by Dr. Chris Shirley and Dr. Andrew Hall. Interment will follow in the Port Mayaca Cemetery, Port Mayaca, FL. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM on Thursday until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the O.W. Yates Scholarship Fund, Ouchita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, AR.
