Keith was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the 1st Air Calvary Division from May 1969 to March 1973 as a radio telephone operator, during which time he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and Army Commendation Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
