Phillip Cary Abbott, age 55 of Palmyra passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his residence from complications after 8 years of battling cancer. He was born October 29, 1968 in Washington, the son of James and Linda Valentine Abbott. He married Toni Barnard September 11, 1993 in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Tiffany (Barrett) Walters of Jerseyville, Cassidy Abbott of Jacksonville, his parents, James and Linda Abbott of Washington, three grandchildren, Ryan Boston, Aubree Walters, Ainsley Abbott, and a sister, Kelly (Larry) Green of Washington.

Phillip was a contractor in the Palmyra area for several years. He then went to work for LS Building materials in Springfield. He was an avid baseball pitcher all the way through college. He coached girls travel softball and was the assistant coach for Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville for many years. He loved spending time with his girls and grandchildren and family, they were the highlight of his life.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Routt Catholic High School Softball Program.
