The young officer is well known in this city and was an accomplished swimmer and gymnast. He was actively associated with the YMCA serving as a volunteer leader under Franklin B. Demerest and was a member of the swimming team. He served as a life guard during the summer at Midway Park. Lt. Takagi was married on Jan 1st 1944 in Arkansas where he was assigned to the 58th Infantry at Camp Robinson. He went overseas in Feburary. The soldier took his basic training at Camp Croft S.C. and was commissoned at Officers Training School in Ft. Benning Ga. A graduate of Jamestown High School class of 1937,Lt Takagi had been employed at the Jamestown Electro-Plating Company before going into the service.
