Gary Eugene Heady, 72, of Ottumwa, died at 2:29 p.m. September 11, 2023 at home.
He was born August 20, 1951 in Ottumwa to Rex and Velma Morris Heady. He married Nannette Lee McNabb on September 12, 2020.
A 1969 [sic] graduate of Ottumwa High School, Gary had been a resident of Ottumwa most of his life. He was a traveling musician performing with various groups all over the country, most recently with Jennifer Handling and the Revolution Band. He retired in 2009.
Gary was known as "a jack of all trades" with small engine repair and carpentry to electrical work and a master of the bass guitar.
Surviving is his wife, Nannette; his children, Jesse Heady of Agency and Gary Heady Jr. of Spirit Lake; step-children, Christopher McNabb of Escondido, CA and Lezza Leedom of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren; and sisters, Joyce (Denny) Ferrell of Ottumwa and Linda Heady of Guerneville, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated and a time to celebrate his life will be at a later date.
